About Us
We are a group of young like minded people interested in journalism, who thought media is very
important in portraying the image of the society and people at large and would
like to highlight the issues surrounding the lives of the indigenous people of
Tripura.
Looking at the history of Tripura briefly, the indigenous people of Tripura
no more constitute the majority of the population. Due to demographic changes in
the region as a result of large influx of Hindu Bengali settlers from Bangladesh
after the partition of India and mostly after the 1972 war, the total scenario
of situation in Tripura had changed, where the once mighty Tripura Kingdom
exist, now today the Indigenous people have become minority in their homeland
consisting of merely 30% of the state's population. In a democracy country like
India where number maters, the voice of indigenous people have become
insignificant in the administrative power of the state.
The voice of the Indigenous people were never projected in true sense. The picture of Tripura is
never looked through the eyes of the Indigenous people and their issues hardly
make any headlines in the paper in the state.
It is in this endeavor this website
www.tiprasa.com was form to
highlight the issues of Tripura in general and of the Indigenous people in
particular.
The group first came into being in 24th of May 2005 and is working now under
the banner of tiprasa.com
Tiprasa.com assure you to provide Real Story From Real People, A News and Information Web Portal of the
Indigenous People of Tripura
