Reservation Issue at NIT Agartala, STs deprived Seats

 The recent reservation issue at the NIT Agartala has raised many questions in the minds of the people of Tripura. According to the Central Reservation Bill 2006
“4. The provisions of section 3 of this Act shall not apply to—
(a) a Central Educational Institution established in the tribal areas referred to in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution ”
NIT Agartala being located at Barjala, Jirania under TTADC a tribal area, referred in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. But sadly the issue is being diverted to OBC reservation issue only. OBC reservation has been put on hold at NIT Agartala for the past two years as the institute is being located under ADC. But for the same reason ST students of the state have been deprive .........

 Yarwng - the root, a 95 mm film, which had already won Special Jury Mention Award at the 7th Asian Film Festival 2008 in Mumbai, is now to be premiered in New York's Museum of Modern Art on 12th and 14th of June 2009.
The film story is about, the brutal and bitter upheaval of tribal peoples of Tripura, in northeast India, their fertile riverside villages submerged by the construction of a hydroelectric dam in the 1970s in Dumbur lake, Tripura, where a love story evolved between a man and a woman, whose love story is only to end on the fatal day, they were to marry, because of the construction dam.
Yarwng, released in September 2008, directed by Fr Joseph Pulinthanath, is produced by Sampari Pictures Tripura, a film production concern of the Salesians registered with the .........
