Do you have an Army behind you? [6/9/2010]
|
I was attending a conference last December at Kolkata, during the workshop, a discussion was on for the topic 'language prosody', and one of the speakers was talking about one particular Bengali language of West Bengal spoken by some poor villagers not akin to the Bengali language spoken in Kolkata or elsewhere. And one Professor made a comment saying the language is not a standard language, on which another speaker intervene him, saying how can a language be 'standard' or 'below standard', all language are 'standard' it is only the language that has an army behind makes it 'Official and standard',
It made me think then, 'armies' are there for all, then what is this extra army that help one language to be standard and the other to be below it? Is it the armed Army or unarmed Army? What is the arm they are being armed with, is it the arm of money, richness, politics, etc?
I was thinking what is this 'army behind'? And borrowing a small piece of wonderland from Alice I started thinking, do I have an army behind me, behind my language, behind my culture that will make it 'Official and standard'.
What was the reason that, Kokborok script changes with the change in Government in Tripura, is it the change in 'Army' behind it?
Needless to say about the recent Tring controversies? A series of question overflowed my mind with no answers.
I borrowed some more wonderland from Alice and continued my fantasy of thinking the 'army behind'.
Do I have an 'army' behind me that will make my language standard, my culture superior, my identity unbeaten?
Do you have an 'army' behind you?

We can vote only for one party [3/1/2010]
|
Looking at the ongoing political situation in Tripura it has become more interesting to follow the happenings and they can beat even the regular soaps on TV or a bollywood film.
As the ADC election nears the political parties are gathering momentum to make their presence felt in the remotest place possible, recent visits of CM in a remote place of Chowmunu an example. Have I said rightly, or is it only the CPIM are interested in the political game of the state and inspite being the ruling party leave no stone unturned for the preparation.
No doubt regional party is a must to keep the regional and indigenous issue on focus which no national party can really focus in true terms. But where are the regional parties of Tripura, INPT, IPFT, NCT, NSPT etc and the list goes on.
It was a great moment when all the regional parties came together earlier as INPT to fight for a common cause but now the story is totally different. WE have NC Debbarma led IPFT, Animesh Debbarma led NCT and the BK Wrankhawl led INPT.
The whole regional political scenario is a mess.
All the parties are busy negotiating with other 'like minded' party, again I am wrong its not the party, but some individual people negotiating for their personal benefit. But no work on the ground to lure the voters, the ruling CPIM has the biggest tool 'NREGA' with them, what has the regional parties with them to tackle?
The leaders with their vested interest divided the party with each party showing a beautiful dream that can never be achieved single fold, but they are happy to be General Secretary, President etc of the party, but Sir we are one, and we cannot vote for all the parties, have you thought of the masses the public, we can vote only for one party. .........
