Borkung Hrangkhawl, has just hit the online media and in less than two months have been Receiving positive feedbacks about his music. Best known for his freestyle rapping abilities India's Fresh New Hip-hop Artist Borkung Hrangkhawl (born October 07, 1987), better known by his stage name BK, is a freestyle rapper and singer-songwriter from Kamlacherra, Tripura. BK is the son of Shri. B.K Hrangkhawl, President of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura(INPT) a state political party and an active social worker campaigning for the rights of indigenous tribal inhabitants in the northeastern Indian state of Tripura.
Many consider him the best freestyle rapper in the country He was formerly part of the band "DropSquad" that was signed by Times Music in 2010 During a Nation wide Talent Hunt , "Supastars" during the North Zone competition round. BK also had to freestyle there on demand of Jasbir Jassi of Dil le gi kuri Fame. He even was an opening act of Jasbir Jassis Album Back with a Bang in 2010 which was released by Times Music. DropSquad Got Positive Response from the crowd but due to some unavoidable reasons Borkung Hrangkhawl a.k.a BK went on to his solo venture and released his first solo music video Borkung Hrangkhawl is widely considered to be the first rap artist from the state of Tripura to make it to the limelight.
Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous artists from different musical genres. He hasfrequently performed at numerous events in and around New Delhi, with the hip-hop group Last Renaissance.His music is best known for its social views, which are expressed in many of his songs based on life, struggles against discrimination/racism and other social issues.
In December 31st 2012, BK released his single The Roots(Chini Haa) Music Video on YouTube and it generated over 107,067 hits in a month. The song talked about the present socio-political situation of the minority indigenous people of Tripura. Chini Haa means Our Land in Kokborok dialect, the dialect of the Tripuris. The music video for the album titled, The Journey (feat. Hagai Rongmei from The Mangalz) was released on Youtube on 31st January 2013 and till date it has generated more than 769,188 views, which is considered as the Most Viral Video of an Independent Indian Artist. He also stands at Number 4 of the Most Popular Videos around the Web section on YouTube now. He is now considered as Northeast Indias Biggest Artist and the Next Big Thing.
