Coming from a humble family from a remote village of South Tripura, Scientist
Ajit Uchoi today made Tripura proud with his success in the recently declared
result of Indian Forest Service conducted by the UPSC. A brilliant and dedicated
person Mr Uchoi has also cleared Agriculture Research Service as Scientist. He
is one among the 87 candidates that cleared all India IFS Examination 2012 and
also among the top 6 ST students that cleared the IFS examination in the country.
Tiprasa.Com brings you this short conversation with Scientist Ajit Uchoi.
1. Sir, tell us about your self.
I am come from a village West Depacherra, Karbok, South
Tripura. My father is a Primary School Teacher and my mother a housewife.
We are three brothers and I am the eldest of them. I did my schooling from Holy
Cross High School, Depacherra (upto class X) and Holy Cross High School,
Agartala (XI-XII). I did my graduation in Agriculture from Central Agricultural
University, Imphal, Manipur. After that, I did my masters in Plant Genetic
Resources from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi with a
scholarship from ICAR
2. What made you take IFS
examination.
The kind of opportunity, reach and satisfaction that the
IFS gives is incomparable. It gives us the opportunity to add meaning to
people's lives. Moreover my love for nature and outdoor life has prompted me to
take IFS as career.
3. How did you start the preparation and since when
I started gathering information regarding IFS when i was doing my graduation.
But I started preparing seriously after I finished my Post graduation. Since I
had no prior experience with these exams, it took me a year and a half to
understand the pattern. It was after I cleared Agriculture Research Service
examination, I appeared for IFS exam.
4. What role you want to play as an IFS officer
I want to be a part of the
administrative machinery of our country and state which I thought, would help me
to channelize my potential for the service of the nation and specially to
my state and my fellow Tiprasa. I would also like to work for the better
upliftment of our people.
5. What do you do presently
Presently, I am doing my Ph.D in the Indian Agricultural
Research Institute, New Delhi with Rajiv Gandhi National scholarship for ST from
Ministry of Tribal Affairs. I will be submitting my thesis in August.
6. How do you want to help Tripura/Tiprasa
I would like to work for the better development and
upliftment of my state, specially our Tiprasa in the best manner I can do as an
IFS officer
7. What message do you have for the youth of Tripura
Please don't go for immediate gains. And don't take
things for granted. Chart out a long road map with a vision and everything will
be perfect. There is no substitute for hard work. Always remember that, we
youths are the future of our country and state.
